Received this as an ARC from Amazon and fell right into this book on the very first page.
Like so many others, Englishwoman Juliet Ashton is still reeling from the horrors of WWII, during which she worked as a journalist in London. She still wants to write, but about what? When she receives, serendipitously, a letter from a Guernsey islander, her curiosity is piqued. The Channel Islands were the only territory in the British isles to be occupied by the Nazis. Juliet embarks upon a quest, first in letters and then in person, to get to know the islanders and to learn about their war experiences. In the process, her life changes forever.
