It’s a Mystery: Hotwire, by Alex Kava

Hotwire (Maggie O'Dell #9)

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

It isn’t easy to meld together an ill-fated drug party in the Nebraska woods, outbreaks of food poisoning in Washington D.C. area schools, teen suicides and electrocutions, and UFO fears, but Alex Kava manages to do so without stretching credulity too far beyond reasonable limits. FBI profiler Maggie O’Dell, in Nebraska for a professional conference, finds herself rushing from one crisis to another while coping with bureaucratic corruption, secret government plots, and contaminated meat packing plants. Hotwire is a fast paced thriller dealing with issues that are all too prevalent, and filled with interesting characters that you might expect to meet at work or while jogging in the park. Makes me glad to be a vegetarian, that’s for sure!
