You might enjoy The Magician's Assistant and Run (both by Ann Patchet). Am going to see My Sister's Keeper today and am somewhat dreading it, based on reviews I have read.

loved Villette---bought it because wuthering heights wasn't on the shelf, and I wanted more Bronte. I teach at a girls school--all the parallels were there! Recently finished Miracles of Prato---good; checked out all the beautiful artwork of Lucrezia. Especially love Fra Lippi's Annunciations, and the Madonna in the Forest.

Just dropped by to catch up on your current reading, felt much pleasure in seeing that you're reading "Villette." I read it and then listened to it, never wanting it to end. I found that I liked it almost as much as Charlotte's most famous book, yet its not much discussed or mentioned when people list "great books". Even now, just discussing this book makes me yearn to be reading it for the 1st time, with all of the joyful discoveries still ahead of me. I hope that you find as much pleasure in it as I did.

Maybe I missed it on your list - but have you read Water For Elephants by Sara Gruen. It's the book I now recommend most!
