They are attempting to catch up with contemporary society. After all it only took them 500 years to pardon Galileo for espousing the ridiculous theory in 1633 that the Earth rotated in space and was not the center of the universe. In another five hundred years they just might understand the year 2007. And I notice the motivation was to absolve Pope Clement of responsibility and place it on the King. Just because it says it on a piece of paper written for and by the Vatican doesn’t make it true. The Knights were a threat to both and theory has it that they lived on underground and re-formed as the secret Freemasons. The father’s of this country’s constitution were mostly all Freemasons. Hence the seperation of church and state was paramount in their eyes. Freedom from religion was balanced with freedom of religion back then. One would never know that to be the case today. Before someone sends a reply that says the Pledge of Allegiance says “One nation under God” that line was added in the 1950’s and it was not part of the 1776 Declaration of Independence or subsequent Constitution of the United States and it is not a declaration of Christianity being the preferred religion of the states. I am not an atheist but I have my own beliefs that require no substantiation of entities or miracles. I live with miracles everyday as every day is a miracle. If and when the Catholic Church can see it’s way clear to allowing the truth of what they have done through the ages to protect their own interests, the quicker people would forgive and move on with other greater issues of humanity.
Thank you . That was a good reply. Fortunately we are not likely to be burned at the stake for having opinions not favorable to the church of Rome. I am a Past Master in the Freemasons . I agree that all people should be entitled to believe in the divine in the manner that works for them. That is what Masonry is based upon. That is what our country is based upon and as a soldier in the US Army that is what I represented. Freedom of the populace to have freedom of belief ; and to practice that freedom woithout interference sofar as it does no harm to others.
This should be really cool. I just read an article on NPR and USA Today about some people in Spain claiming to be heirs of the Templars… and they are sueing the Pope and the Vatican for over $156 Billion. I worte some commentary on the topic and Dugg the story, so you can get to the original story through my blog: The Pope is Being Sued By The Knights Templar, Brothers of the Rosy Cross.
